With 45 aircraft delivered last year, Eurocopter has become the leading helicopter(1) manufacturer on the oil and gas market. Over the last few years, the rise in the price of oil has caused the market to boom, which has, in turn, led to the increased use of helicopters for exploration and production activities. What’s more, many oil companies have called for fleets to be modernized to meet the certification, equipment and performance criteria fulfilled by the new generation of helicopters. Slowly but surely, the quality and diversity of the Eurocopter range has won over new customers and end users alike. The EC225, in particular, is the most popular aircraft in the 19-seat category, with 17 helicopters ordered by oil and gas operators in seven different countries. Up 40% on the previous year, 39 orders were taken on the oil and gas market in 2008—another record in itself.
