“The aircraft’s maximum range, high speed, payload and, above all, reliability were some of the qualities that swung our decision in favor of the EC225 Bond Offshore Helicopters.”

The oil & gas industry increasingly demands high quality helicopters that can perform offshore operations as effectively as possible. This means high levels of safety for crews and passengers and high levels of availability for the aircraft. “The size of the EC225’s cabin, which can carry 19 passengers, the aircraft’s maximum range, high speed, payload and, above all, reliability were some of the qualities that swung our decision in favor of the EC225 when we sat down to choose the new helicopters that will swell the ranks of our current fleet,” explained Stephen Bond, BOH Group Chairman. Peter Bond, BOH Executive Chairman added: “We have a long and highly satisfactory experience of working with the Super Puma family, going back to 1983 when we began operating the AS332 L1. Our customers are familiar and very happy with the Super Puma range. For us, the choice of the EC225 is a logical next step.” Peter Bond ended by stating that: “In reality, I believe that the most important factor for the oil & gas market is to have a cost-effective and reliable helicopter with a very high level of availability that fully meets customers’ expectations. If we can provide all that, we will not only strengthen customers’ trust in the services we provide, but also their trust in the helicopters.”

The EC225s will be based in Aberdeen and will perform crew change flights to and from the offshore platforms operated by BP and ConocoPhillips at a medium to long range of 300 nautical miles from the mainland. BOH’s current fleet consists of seven AS332 L2s and the first EC225 of a contract for two EC225s, with an option for a third.
