At the Farnborough International Airshow, which took place from
July 14 to 20, 2008, Bristow Group Inc. ordered two additional
EC225s. This purchase will bring the total number of EC225s
operated by Bristow to 15 by the end of 2011. Bristow also
announced at Farnborough that it will acquire three more EC135s
(plus a further option) to add to the two EC135s already in its
fleet. The three helicopters will be delivered in 2008 and 2009,
and will enter service in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Farnborough Airshow was also the perfect opportunity for
Eurocopter to announce the creation of a new flight training
device (FTD) in Aberdeen for the EC225. Starting in 2010, this
FTD will add another dimension to the local support offered to the
Group’s customers in the oil and gas sector. The flight training
device will be qualified to JAR FSTD level 3 standards and will
include an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) data pack
and flight loop.
