Established in 1959, TAF Helicopters is the longest running helicopter operator in Spain. Eurocopter helicopters have proved crucial in recent years as the company turns its attention to high added-value activities.
On March 29, TAF Helicopters accepted the first
EC135 to be delivered from the Albacete site. At the
end of the year, another EC135 is due to complete a
fleet which already features three EC135s, four
AS350 B Ecureuils, seven AS350 B3s, an AS350 BA
and four BO105s. “Without a doubt the EC135 is the
ideal helicopter to ensure success in our EMS
[Emergency Medical Services] and rescue operations,”
explains Joan Carol, Development Director at
TAF Helicopters. “With remarkable power and speed,
excellent capabilities, and an easily accessible cabin,
this helicopter is the perfect tool to work with.”
TAF also performs public administration missions
including civil protection and mountain rescue, especially
in the Pyrenees, as well as assisting in fire fighting
operations in summertime. “We also provide industrial
support for major clients such as Endesa, Red
Eléctrica and Gas Natural,” notes Carol. “These companies
count on our helicopters to carry out maintenance,
overhaul and construction missions for electrical
grids and gas pipelines in Spain, Morocco and
Algeria. That’s why we need helicopters equipped with
thermal cameras, to facilitate grid inspection. We also
have a specialized Aran valley base in Vielha in
the Catalan Pyrenees, where our activities include
sling load work and assembling ski resorts in the
mountains.”
Success is the buzz word at TAF, where every mission
means new goals to be achieved. “The TAF fleet has
accumulated a total 150,000 flying hours, and our
crews are thoroughly prepared for the toughest of
rescue operations. We use latest generation helicopters
fitted with equipment specially adapted to each
mission. Here at TAF, we are focused on keeping our
fleet constantly updated with cutting edge technology.
We want our clients to benefit from specialized
services where safety, efficiency and quality are top
priorities.”
