Russair introduced the first helicopter manufactured abroad intoRussia, and now operates the first VIP EC145 in the country.

Established in 1997, Russair made history in 1998 by introducing into Russia the first helicopter manufactured abroad, only a year after a new Russian law enabled private companies to operate aircraft.

That landmark AS350 BA Ecureuil was specially imported for VIP transport. Maintaining its pioneering reputation, Russair now operates the first VIP EC145 in Russia. “We currently operate four AS355 N Ecureuils and an EC145 for VIP flights and business trips,” explains Reshetnikov Igor Petrovich, director of Russair. “Our helicopters are based at Pulkovo international airport in St Petersburg, and we transport our passengers from there to the business center. We also organize guided tours of St Petersburg and trips to Finland and the Baltic states. We chose the EC145 for VIP transport for the simple reason that it’s the best helicopter in its category, boasting an excellent standard of safety along with a very spacious interior that doesn’t compromise on comfort.”

Following training on the Eurocopter site at Marignane since 1998, the Russair pilots and technicians were awarded with international certification as required by the National Civil Aviation Authority.
