The last EC135 in a fleet of eight helicopters is scheduled for delivery
to the Czech Police Aviation Department (CPAD) in 2008, and earmarked
to serve a remarkably diverse range of missions.
Interview with Colonel Dr Vladimir Panenka,
Director of the Czech Police Aviation Department.
What types of mission does the EC135 carry
out for you?
Vladimir Panenka: We use the EC135 in a whole
range of missions for the Police Department and fire
brigade. We also assist mountain rescue units and
Search and Rescue activities.
What would be the main advantages of the EC135?
V. P.: We have been progressively entering the first six
helicopters into service since 2003, and expect to see
the last of the fleet of eight delivered in 2008.
The high
speed EC135s perfectly suit our rapid deployment
requirements, and we really appreciate their versatility
during law enforcement and rescue missions.
By taking care of these mostly everyday missions,
the EC135s leave the medium tonnage helicopters
free to look after the transport of special police troops
and teams of firefighters and rescuers, all manpowerintensive
operations requiring use of specialized
equipment.
How do you find logistical support from Eurocopter?
V. P.: The CPAD has signed a spare parts delivery
agreement directly with Eurocopter. Experience
has shown that this type of logistical support solution
has major advantages for both parties.
We enjoy an excellent level of cooperation with the
manufacturer support center.
