Helicopteros Marinos has not only been a Eurocopter customer
for over 20 years - since 2004, the company has also been an approved
maintenance center for the Argentinean market.
Interview with Marcelo Florio,Commercial Director at Helicopteros Marinos
“We are one of Eurocopter’s longest standing customers in Argentina.
In 1986, we introduced the first Ecureuil AS350 B helicopter in the country for aerial work activities, and the first AS365 N Dauphin to support the Total oil exploration and productions activities in Argentina.
The Dauphins serve four oil platforms and boats some 60-70 miles off the coast, in the South, close to the Ushuaia region.
Down there, the climatic conditions are as rough as in the North Sea: the winds are strong and the temperatures are low, which sometimes makes the missions very difficult.
But the Dauphins perform sterling work and are very reliable.
The Ecureuils/A-Stars are used to perform seismic prospecting in the jungle, mining exploration in the high mountains or heliskiing in the provinces of Mendoza and Rio Negro.
The Ecureuil/A-Star is an aircraft that holds many aces: it can carry slung loads, and has comfort and power; it is the perfect tool for working at high altitude.
Our maintenance center in Buenos Aires has been certified by Eurocopter for the Dauphin range, the Ecureuils/A-Stars, and the EC145s flying in Argentina and Uruguay.
And the future looks bright because Total wants to renew the fleet of helicopters flying in the region, and we will therefore need to incorporate new generation helicopters like the EC145 or Dauphin N3.”
