From Tourism to Television

Helisul, the Brazilian company created in 1972, operates a fleet of three AS350 B2 Ecureuils, three AS350 BAs, and four AS350 Bs. An additional AS350 B2 will be delivered to the company in May.

Interview of Raphaela S. Biesuz, Administrative Director

“Helisul currently operates out of several locations in Brazil, depending on the missions to be performed. The Ecureuils are perfect for tourist flights, and this is one of our major activities.
These helicopters are good and faithful performers, and are especially appreciated by our customers, who highly rate the comfort, the size of the cabin, the ease of access on board, and the low noise levels.

Helisul operates the leader of the Ecureuil fleet, which has clocked up more than 26,000 flight hours.

From an Air Taxi Operator’s point of view, the Ecureuil has another advantage: its modular and userfriendly design, which eases all maintenance procedures.
Helisul has recently added ENG (Electronic News Gathering) to its list of operations, providing services to the largest Brazilian television network, Globo TV – and it was upon Globo TV’s insistence that we replaced the old, reliable AS350 B with the new AS350 B2 Ecureuil.

Helisul operates the world leader of the Ecureuil fleet, which has clocked up more than 26,000 flight hours.
This aircraft will “retire” from ENG (Electronic News Gathering) operations shortly after the new AS350 B2 is delivered to us in May. Our Ecureuils also work for the State Governments – the police and governors of Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina – and the country’s environmental entities.
Because of its excellent power/weight ratio, the AS350 B2 is the perfect machine for performing Special Aerial Helicopter Services.
Helisul has three AS350 B2/BAs, which have been under contract with the World Bank and the Environment Ministry since the year 2000, and these aircraft perform very important environmental protection missions such as fire fighting, combating deforestation, protecting Indian areas from invasion, stopping illegal fishing and hunting, and rescuing endangered species in flooded areas.

The Ecureuil’s first-rate cargo-sling capability has also allowed the company to perform excellent work for its seismic support and geophysical iron and water prospection clients.
We are very satisfied with the on-hand service provided by Helibrás, which works to ensure the maximum availability of our fleet. We have built a relationship based on trust with their staff, and they perform crucial services for us.”
