A Major Player for the Oil Industry

In 2005, Eurocopter sold 53 helicopters to oil industry customers. Compared to 2004, the 60% rise in order value shows just how well Eurocopter aircraft match the requirements of this market sector.

With extensive experience in the oil industry, and a wide range of products meeting the various needs of operators, Eurocopter has become a major player on this booming market. The renewal of aging fleets and the development of oil production in certain areas, such as Angola, Kazakhstan, India, Vietnam, and Malaysia, explain why growth is so strong, mainly the consequence of the sharp increase in the price of the oil barrel.

While aircraft performance, reliability, and availability are the mainstays for oil operators, the current emphasis is also on safety, and the comfort of passengers transported to platforms. Such platforms are being erected further and further from the coast or are in countries with extreme temperatures or difficult weather conditions. The helicopter must therefore have an adequate radius of action and be capable of flying in all weather and at any temperature… at low operating costs. With over 30 years experience in the oil sector, Eurocopter has always met the changing requirements of its customers, and continues to innovate to stay in tune with the market.

Organization

In the oil and gas sector – considered as one of the major sectors – Eurocopter serves the industry at two levels through its new organization implemented at the beginning of April. The organization is made up of:

• A sector specialist tasked with identifying the present and future needs of the oil industry, acting as an interface with the industry, and contributing to the overall optimization of the Eurocopter offer of services and products.
• A team dedicated to selling aircraft and supporting the operators.
