On 15 March 2006, an EC145 was handed over to the company Elilario Italia S.p.A. – the first of its kind to be delivered in Italy. This longstanding Eurocopter customer has always stayed faithful to the BK117 C1, and it was therefore a natural move to replace this aircraft with its successor the EC145.

Another big hit with the customer is the ultra-modern avionics, which are completely compatible with the JAR OPS 3 regulation. Equipped with an HEMS emergency kit, especially developed for the Italian market, this EC145 will be used for EMS (Emergency Medical Service) duties in Italy and for oil missions in the Adriatic. The Eurocopter training for the Elilario Italia S.p.A. pilots ended in May, heralding a new era for this Italian company. With the EC145, Elilario Italia now has one of the most modern helicopters in the world.
