No Let-Up for Strategic Investment in Australia

ARH Tiger Simulator

On 15 January 2006, the Full Flight and Mission Simulator (FFMS) for the Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) was delivered to the Australian army training center in Oakey. This delivery is a major step in the deployment of the training system dedicated to the Tiger in Australia. This deployment is mandatory for obtaining the Initial Operational Capability (IOC) for the Tiger fleet in mid-2007, after a year of training for the 1st Squadron. As part of the AIR 87 purchase contract, which covers the Tiger helicopters and the training system, the Australian customer requires the simulator to be Level 5 certified. Moreover, Eurocopter must guarantee the simulator’s realism with reference to the actual helicopter. This accreditation will be given in mid-2006 following two test phases: the On Site Test and Evaluation and the Final Acceptance Test and Evaluation. The key to this success has been the close collaboration of the integrated team from TT&S Pacific, TT&S Cergy, Eurocopter and Australian Aerospace, with the participation of the pilots and engineers of the Australian army.

An EC225/EC725 Flight Simulator in 2007

HeliSim - A Level D EC225/EC725 flight simulator will be entering service at HeliSim in 2007 to meet the training needs of Eurocopter customers.

The decision was made to launch a “business case” in 2004. HeliSim initially concentrated its efforts on determining the technical definition of the EC225 cabin with an EC725 kit in order to meet the training needs of the French armed forces, as the kit makes it possible to rapidly change configurations. Based on the business case, HeliSim then sought the agreement of its shareholders for the new investment. HeliSim received the green light in early 2005 to sign a purchase contract with Thales Services. The simulator will be available by the end of 2007, and with its qualification it will be possible to use it for both civil and military training: Type Rating, Recurrent Flight, SAR(1) and NVG(2) operational missions. Following the success of HeliSim 1 and its AS332 L1 and AS332 L2 Super Puma, AS365 N2 Dauphin and EC155 flight simulators, HeliSim is now implementing its new commercial strategy for the years to come - HeliSim 2. The new entity will be based on the EC225/EC725 products and then the NH90 and EC175 (currently under study). It will also develop service activities, such as the outsourcing of operations and of simulator maintenance.
