The Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud-Est was created in 1936 by law, due to the nationalizations. It took over different aeronautical companies such as Lioré-Olivier (created in 1912) or the Société Provençale de Construction Aéronautique (SPCA). The company produced several fixed wings, including under licence, and was at the origin of the Alouette helicopters and launched the Caravelle program.

June 1948: SE3101 The SE 3101 was a small single-seat aircraft,
with two small tail rotors, in the shape of an inverted V.
1950: SE3110 The SE 3110 was the first truly French helicopter.
The engine was a 200 HP SALMSON.
1951: SE3120 "Alouette I" The design of the Alouette I was nothing else than
the SE 3110 as far as mechanical components were concerned,
but the double tail rotor was given up.
1955: SE3130 "Alouette II" The idea to put a turbine engine
on a helicopter was not a new one.
