03/30/1998 : The New AS365-N3 « High-Performance » Dauphin is Now Certificated and Deliveries Have Begun - With the new AS365 N3, Eurocopter introduces a « High Performance » version of the Dauphin, which meets the most stringent safety requirements for single-engine operation and specifically designed for use in severe altitude and weather conditions.
03/30/1998 : 1997 : Thanks to a Record Order Book and a Balanced Budget Eurocopter is Once Again the World's Leading Helicopter Manufacturer - 1997 was a record-breaking year for the EUROCOPTER Group with orders for 303 new aircraft, made up of 43 Super Puma/Cougar, 16 Dauphin/Panther, 102 single-engine Ecureuil/Fennec, 9 twin-engine Ecureuil/Fennec, 7 BK117, 58 EC 135 and 68 EC 120 B Colibri.
03/23/1998 : Eurocopter Displays EC 135 at FIDAE - Eurocopter, the Franco-German helicopter manufacturer, displays its new, light twin-engined helicopter, the EC135, at this year's FIDAE. Type-certificated in mid-1996, the quiet, fast, new-generation helicopter has developed into a remarkable sales success for the company, with order bookings having surpassed the 100-mark within only 18 months of type certification.
03/23/1998 : Eurocopter displays at FIDAE the New AS 350-B3 " High Performance " Multirole Single-Engine Ecureuil - Presented for the first time at the FIDAE air-show as " El Andino ", the AS 350-B3 is the latest version of the " High Performance " single-engine multirole Ecureuil developed by Eurocopter.
03/23/1998 : Powerful BK 117 is a versatile " Workhorse " Helicopter - The BK 117 is well established in the international market as a true multi-role helicopter. With a take-off weight of 3,350 kg and seating 8-11 persons depending on configuration, the BK 117 is serving in law enforcement, emergency medical services, border patrol, police and fire-fighting operations, offshore services as well as corporate and VIP flight services.
03/23/1998 : The EC155 Extends Eurocopter's High-End range of Medium-Lift Helicopters: The First Pre-Production Machine Has Already Performed its First Flight - By expanding its line of medium-lift helicopters with the introduction of the high-end EC155, Eurocopter has diversified its offering significantly. This new twin-engine helicopter in the 5-metric-ton class complements the 4m-t N2 and N3 versions of the Dauphin, whose commercial success has long been demonstrated with over 600 machines sold so far to more than 170 customers in 50 different countries.

03/01/1998 : Tiger Combat Helicopter : 90% of the Development Programme is Completed - The Franco-German Tiger combat helicopter programme, is progressing decisively with the qualification of its various weapons systems. Firing trials carried out in France with the HAP (reconnaissance/firing support) and in Germany with the UHT (multi-role/antitank) versions of the helicopter produced the results previously calculated to the full satisfaction of the customers, i.e. the French and German armed forces.

01/07/1998 : Certificated in Record Time, the First of the New AS 350-B3 - By the end of 1997, only nine months after its first flight, the AS 350 B3--latest version of the " High Performance " single-engine multirole Ecureuil/Astar developed by Eurocopter--has been granted VFR type certification by the French Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile, thus further attesting to the degree of maturity reached by the Ecureuil/Astar family of helicopters.
06/25/1998 : German Navy to Upgrade Sea Lynx Fleet - The Federal German Agency for Military Technology and Procurement (BWB) has awarded contracts worth more than 250 million Deutschmarks for the upgrade and modernisation of the German Navy's Sea Lynx helicopters to Eurocopter Deutschland and GKN Westland Helicopters.
05/20/1998 : Franco-German Memorandum of Understanding For Production of Tiger Helicopter signed at Berlin - The Secretary of State in the Federal German Ministry of Defence, Gunnar Simon, and the Délégué Général pour l'Armement in the French Ministry of Defence, Jean-Yves Helmer, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering serial production of the Franco-German combat and support helicopter Tiger, on May 20, 1998, during the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) at Berlin.

04/24/1998 : South Africa: Eurocopter Present at Aerospace Africa '98 - World's leading helicopter manufacturer, the Franco-German Eurocopter group, and its subsidiary Eurocopter Southern Africa (pty) Ltd. are exhibiting at the Aerospace Africa '98 air show being held in Pretoria April 28-May 2, 1998.
08/26/1998 : 32 BK 117 C2 for the French "Sécurité Civile" - The French Ministry of Interior's has announced the purchase of 32 BK 117 C2 helicopters through a contract worth 170 millions USD with Eurocopter.
08/20/1998 : Greece's Ministry of the Merchant Marine to Acquire Four Super Puma AS 332C1s - The Greek Ministry of the Merchant Marine has signed a contract worth $60 million with Eurocopter for the purchase of four AS 332C1 Super Puma helicopters. Intended for search and rescue (SAR) work, these machines are to be delivered between late 1999 and mid-2000.
07/08/1998 : Patrick Gavin is named new President of the Eurocopter Management Board - The Eurocopter Supervisory Board has decided to appoint Patrick Gavin President of the Eurocopter Management Board from August 1, 1998, in place of Jean-François Bigay, who will be taking up his new position as Senior Executive Vice President, Aeronautical Sector, within the Aerospatiale Group.
12/17/1998 : Tiger helicopter, two new successful Mistral air-to-air firing tests - The Tiger helicopter has just confirmed its air combat capacities through two successful consecutive Mistral (Matra Bae Dynamics France) air-to-air firing tests in conditions which were taken as representative of operational situations.
12/17/1998 : Swiss Army procures 12 more Cougar - Federal Counsellor Adolf Ogi, Head of the federal Department of Defence, population protection and sports, and Patrick Gavin, Chairman of the Management Board at Eurocopter, signed an agreement in Bern, Switzerland, the 17th of December 1998, bearing on the purchasing of 12 Cougar AS 532 UL helicopters and their logistic support.
12/12/1998 : EC155 awarded its type certificate of airworthiness - The twin-engine EC155 B has just received its initial type certification simultaneously from the Civil Aviation Authorities in France (DGAC) and in Germany (LBA).

10/02/1998 : RCMP Add Two New Eurocopter AS350 B3s To Their Fleet - The newest additions to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police fleet of aircraft has been delivered by Eurocopter Canada Limited (FORT ERIE) Tuesday, Sept. 15 during a special « rollout ceremony », marking the completion of the two first AS350 B3s helicopters ever assembled in Canada.
