Built to handle the heavy EMS missions

When every second can be lethal for the patient, quick intervention can save life. The spacious cabin of the Eurocopter medium size ships can easily accommodate medical equipment. It can be changed of configuration within minutes and lets room for the addition of a second stretcher when necessary. They feature exceptional capabilities to transfer patients from hospital to hospital or to fly rapidly to accident scene.

In addition to a very high speed, the AS365 N3 Dauphin high power reserve and its good OEI performance make it a safe aircraft to fly over urban areas or to perform SAR operations in difficult conditions. The large unobstructed cabin provides a platform for simultaneous hoisting operation, if necessary, and effortlessly transport to hospital with the right medical crew and adapted equipment.

The EC155 B1 is Eurocopter's top-end 5-ton twin-engine helicopter. It is a veritable cornucopia of the latest proven technologies. The EC155 B1 offers more cabin space than almost any other helicopter in its class. Its exceptional roominess, comfort, speed and endurance make it ideal in the category for EMS. Technical advancements developed by Eurocopter on the AS365 N3 include modular design of the mechanical assemblies, use of composite materials (Starflex® rotor head, blades, airframe…) which has led to significant maintenance time reduction. The AS365 N3 also incorporates the new generation, all composite Fenestron® tail that provides higher maneuverability and optimal safety for passengers and ground personnel. It reduces noise signature (average 3.1 dB below ICAO level) and provides improved damage tolerance, increased Service Life Limit (SLL) and reduced maintenance.

The AS365 N3’s wide lateral access to the cabin combined with the enlarged bubble sliding doors make it better adapted to SAR operations such as hoisting and long range mission.

Its low vibration level and high flight stability provide working comfort for medical attendants and a smooth ride for patients. The AS365 N3 can be fitted with a four axis Auto Pilot and the weather radar to fly safely on demanding climatic conditions.

The Turbomeca ARRIEL 2C engines offer a maximum power of 729 kW / 977 shp per engine with proven technology, safety and reliability at its best. The electronic engine control FADEC decreases the pilot workload and increases again safety.

The twin Turbomeca Arriel 2C2 engines are fitted with Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC) for totally automated OEI safety. The EC155 B1 has a new five-bladed bearingless Spheriflex rotor. This and Eurocopter's famous shrouded Fenestron tail rotor result in a noise level that is 4.5 dB in average below the ICAO's latest standards. Eurocopter has integrated its latest technologies into this new-generation aircraft. These include exceptionally low noise and vibration levels for markedly improved flying comfort. It's so quiet that passengers almost have the impression they are in a fixed-wing airliner.

The designs for airframe and armature call for widespread use of highly resistant, corrosion-free composite materials and light alloys. The EC155 B1 offers the most advanced man-machine interface available: the "Avionique Nouvelle" instrument panel with large LCD displays that reduce the pilot's workload, improve safety and facilitate maintenance.

The EC155 B1 offers exceptionally high maximum speed, long-haul range, and large cabin. Which is why, the EC155 B1 is often the helicopter of choice for Emergency Medical and Flying Intensive-Care missions.
