Eurocopter Today, the World's Number One Helicopter Manufacturer

The Group spreads its wings worldwide

Established in 1992, the Eurocopter Group is a Division of EADS, a world leader in aerospace, defense and related services.

The Eurocopter Group, which employs approximately 17,500 people, designs, develops, produces and markets the most comprehensive range of civil and military helicopters in the world. Customers can rely on a global network of subsidiaries and specialized centers to ensure all activities of support, service and training.

World leading helicopter manufacturer in the civil and parapublic market for more than 10 years, Eurocopter confirmed its position in 2010 despite the ongoing impact of the global economic crisis. The Group generated a turnover of more than 4.8 billion euros, solidified orders for 346 new helicopters and achieved a 49 percent market share in the civil and parapublic sectors. Its strong worldwide presence is ensured by 30 subsidiaries and participations on five continents along with a dense network of distributors, certified agents and maintenance centers.

The most comprehensive range of helicopters in the world

With 11,200 Eurocopter helicopters currently in service for over 2,900 customers operating in more than 147 countries, Eurocopter products account for 33 percent of the total world helicopter fleet.

Eurocopter’s success is based on its comprehensive range of civil and military helicopters that benefit from continuously improving, state-of-the-art technology.

The EC120 is the lightest helicopter in the Eurocopter range. This extremely quiet aircraft is also the most modern single-engine helicopter in its category. The Ecureuil/Fennec family is renowned for its multi-mission capabilities and its tried and true service - even in the harshest operating conditions. The EC135 and EC145 light twin-engine aircraft have been widely successful in the law enforcement and emergency medical sectors, proving once again that Eurocopter’s range of helicopters can perform a fully comprehensive range of missions.

The EC155 and the EC225 from the Dauphin and Super Puma families are extremely popular for oil and gas missions and remain a popular choice for operations in this industry. Both types of aircraft are fitted with the most modern and effective autopilots on the market. The EC175, for which the first deliveries are to begin in 2012, complements Eurocopter's civil range in the 7-ton class. This aircraft is particularly well-adapted for offshore, search and rescue (SAR) and corporate transportation missions.

In the military sphere, the EC725 in its combat SAR version has been successfully deployed in the most difficult situations. Deliveries of the Tiger combat helicopter and the NH90 tactical transport helicopter (TTH) are continuing. With 206 Tigers sold and 529 NH90s ordered by the armed forces of 14 countries, these programs are already a huge success on the export market. The Tiger has been successfully deployed by the French Army in Afghanistan since the summer of 2009.

Finally, 2010 was marked by the unveiling of the X3 technical demonstrator, Eurocopter’s newest high-speed, long-range hybrid helicopter that combines vertical takeoff and landing capabilities with high cruise speeds. The X3 performed its first flight in September 2010 and exceeded its original speed target of 220 knots (407km/h) in May 2011. At a speed of 232 knots (430 km/h) the X3 demonstrated the compound aircraft’s performance, capabilities and maturity. The concept is tailored to situations where operational costs and mission success depend directly on the maximum cruising speed.
