Delphine

Marignane / Finance department

Hello,

My name is Delphine and I have been working at Eurocopter for nearly one year in the finance department.
The finance department has several functions like accounting, tax, and controlling where I actually work.
As part of Eurocopter Group Controlling, I have to work and analyse consolidated financial results, which include Eurocopter France, Germany and some subsidiaries. My role is also to deliver information internally –to business centres- and externally
–to EADS, the parent company.
I deal with financial information analysing actual results on a monthly basis, building group forecast three times a year, and once a year, setting targets with the business plan for the following three years.
My daily work is to collect information from the financial department at the national level, and to build a group position at the level of business centres. Then, I have to control, analyse, ask for improvement when it is necessary, compare the actual result with the target and communicate results to the parent company.
A major part of my work is in English, as I have many contacts with our consolidated subsidiaries.

What I enjoy

  • To have a large financial overview and to improve my financial "culture"

  • to work in an international environment

  • to set up and organise some process (like the Business Plan, ...) within the group

  • the controlling has to be understood not only as a financial focus, but also as a transversal function with a lot of interface with the overall strategy.

My study

I studied Finance & Controlling in a French Business school (ESC), including other topics like marketing, human resources etc.
At that moment, it was not clear that I wanted to work in finance. Since then I have been convinced because of several tasks done in controlling: one of the more important was the implementation of a new controlling tool in different subsidiaries
of a group, including a training phase for the users,… and I enjoy it.

What After

I can imagine working in an operational department to increase my knowledge of the company, and I am also thinking about having an experience abroad. I am sure that what I am doing now will be useful for my future.

My device

Follow an objective, and stay open to all opportunities

My advice to students

Sometimes choosing the right way is not easy, so you have to "use" internships to define what you would like to do.
The important thing is to have a goal and to follow it, taking all good opportunities. The job is there to increase your knowledge. And do not forget the personal development!
